Wildflowers Pediatric Therapy is growing, and we're seeking dedicated an enthusiastic Occupational Therapists to join our warm and supportive team as an independent contractor.

Skills & Qualifications

To thrive in this role, we're looking for an Occupational Therapist who possess a strong foundation in pediatric practice, coupled with specialized expertise in the following areas:

Advanced Clinical Knowledge

  • Sensory Processing Expertise: In depth knowledge and advanced training in sensory integration and sensory processing disorder, including assessment tools and evidence based intervention strategies.

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Proficiency: Experience working with children on the autism spectrum, understanding the unique needs and strengths within the neurodivergent community.

  • Neurodivergent-Affirming Care: A commitment to and practical application of neurodiversity affirming principles, focusing on respecting and valuing diverse neurological wirings rather than seeking to "fix" or "normalize" differences. This includes understanding and advocating for the needs of neurodivergent individuals.

Therapeutic Approaches

  • Child-Led Therapy: Demonstrate ability to implement child-led therapeutic approaches, allowing the child's interests and motivations to guide the session, fostering engagement and intrinsic motivation.

  • Floortime Approach (DIR®): Knowledge of Developmental, Individual differences, & Relationship based (DIR®)/Floortime Model, utilizing play-based interactions to promote social-emotional, communication, and cognitive development.

Additional Key Skills

  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with children, families, caregivers, and other professionals.

  • Observation and Assessment: Keen observational skills to assess a child's strengths and challenges in various environments, utilizing standardized and non-standardized assessment tools.

  • Creative & Play-Based Intervention: Ability to design and implement engaging, play-based interventions that are developmentally appropriate and tailored to individual needs.

  • Collaboration & Teamwork: A collaborative spirit, comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care for each child.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Timely record keeping and clear documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

Job Description

As an Occupational Therapist with Wildflowers Pediatric Therapy, your pay range will be $63-70 per billable hour, with pay range based on experience. Your responsibilities will encompass the following:

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Evaluations & Treatment: Conduct occupational therapy evaluations to assess children's strengths and challenges across domains. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that align with neurodivergent affirming principles and incorporate approaches such as child-led therapy and (DIR®)/Floortime model.

  • Co-Treatment & Collaboration: Actively engage in co-treatment sessions with other disciplines (Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapists, Speech Therapists, and Music Therapists) to provide integrated and holistic care.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation of all evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and communication, adhering to all relevant legal and ethical guidelines.

Communication Responsibilities

  • Educating Caregivers & Staff: Provide clear, concise, empowering education to families and staff members regarding therapeutic strategies and sensory regulation techniques to support generalization of skills across environments.

  • Maintaining Open Communication: Foster strong, collaborative relationships with families through regular, responsive communication to ensure families feel informed and supported throughout the therapeutic journey.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Effectively communicate with other professionals involved in the child's care to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to intervention.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Self Scheduling: Independently manage and optimize your client schedule to meet the needs of families while maintaining your own healthy work-life balance.

  • Liability Insurance: Maintain current and adequate professional liability insurance coverage, demonstrating a commitment to professional responsibility and safeguarding both yourself and our clients.

  • Professional Development: Engage in professional development activities to stay abreast of the latest research, best practices, and advancements in pediatric occupational therapy, particularly in areas such as sensory processing, autism, and neurodiversity-affirming care.
